NaPoWriMo : In the Flesh

A red circle highlights the date
I’ve chewed my fingernails til they bled
But it’s not enough blood
I’ve not bled yet

The toilet seat is my halo
And I’ve christened many plastic sticks
With discouraging signs
I’ve not bled yet

I’ve marshalled the strength in my dehydrated soul
To visit the wish doctor
I’ve not bled yet, I explain
I hang my head in shame

But do I want to bleed again?

And I run rivers of crimson
I can’t block the flood of tears
Or dreams that  rush from
My gelatinous form

I’ve bled, but not my blood alone
