Limestone

I stand on ivory cliffs

To spy the emerald shores

And harken the angel’s lyre lips

As they cast ye from their doors

What evil deed had I done

Bargaining with the snakes of Rome

Yet here I wallow in the loam

And fear what might become

O! How our hearts  perspire

As we drown our brothers for heresy

Peter with the Devil will conspire

For our soul’s false prosperity

I stand on ivory cliffs

To spy the emerald shores

And harken the angel’s lyre lips

As they cast ye from their doors
