Road Construction

I stand with my feet planted firmly on the ground

And my hands are too

For crawling around

Is all I can do

The lanes that lie before me are clogged

Its lungs are congested

And now the a/c has fogged

My windshield up, gas ingested

I’m stuck in the neon maze

Weary of red blinkers and flashing blues

I’ve taken too many by-ways

Too many cobblestone rues

Upon a well worn path I’ve strode

But now I’m under construction

Eighteen wheels won’t lighten this load

For I’m on the road to destruction
